How is Home Care Funded?

VNA Home Care services are reimbursed by the following:

• Medicare
• Medicaid
• Veterans Administration benefits
• Private insurance
• Self-pay
• United Way

For most payers, services must be considered medically necessary and the patient must meet certain coverage criteria. In order for Medicare to pay for home care services, the patient must have a skilled need for nursing or therapy, be homebound, and have a physician's order for care.

Patients whose home care services are not covered by a third party may choose to pay out of their own pocket. Services may be provided at a reduced fee for those within the community who are unable to afford health care.
