Flu Prevention Program
Flu viruses change, so it’s important to get immunized each year.
As part of VNA’s commitment to community wellness, VNA conducts the annual Flu Immunization program.
- Community Clinics: conducted at convenient and accessible locations throughout Omaha and surrounding areas.
- Corporate Clinics: The business world can be dramatically impacted by the flu as employees are forced to take days off to recuperate, or care for dependents, young and old who are ill. The VNA offers customized clinics in the workplace.
What is Influenza (Also Called the Flu)?
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccination each year.
Who Should Get a Flu Shot?
In general, anyone who wants to reduce his/her chances of getting the flu can be vaccinated. However, certain people should be vaccinated each year either because they are at high risk of having serious flu-related complications or because the live with or care for high-risk persons.

When to Get Your Vaccination
October or November is the best time to be vaccinated, but getting vaccinated in December or even later can still be beneficial since most influenza activity occurs in January or later in most years. Though it varies, flu season can last as late as May.
