Ways to Help Prevent the Flu
You may reduce the risk of getting the flu and other viral respiratory infections if you:
- Wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds.
- Sneeze and cough into your elbow and not into your hands where they’re more likely to spread bacteria and viruses through touch.
- Keep your hands away from your nose, eyes, and mouth. Viruses are most likely to enter your body through these areas.
- Disinfect frequently-used surfaces often. The most contaminated surfaces include: phone receivers, doorknobs, refrigerator and microwave handles, kitchen faucets, and light switches.
- Eat a healthy and balanced diet.
- Get regular exercise.
- Get plenty of sleep.
