Flu Prevention

Influenza (a.k.a. the Flu) Is Serious

An annual flu shot is needed to provide protection from the current flu season’s viruses, which change from year to year. The flu shot reduces the incidence of influenza, which can be particularly serious for the elderly and persons, young children, and persons with underlying chronic medical conditions.

A viral illness, “the flu”, is contagious from the day before the symptoms begin until five days after they start. The flu can last for days and sometimes weeks. The most common complaints are:

  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Runny Nose
  • Headache
  • Muscle Aches
  • Fatigue
